AFRILABS IDEAS TO BUSINESS (12B) PROJECT.

Wennovation Hub has won €15,000 to train female entrepreneurs and incubate their businesses for a period of six months. After a pitch submitted to Afrilabs, Wennovation hub was selected for the capacity building awards based on the hub’s proven track record of churning out quality startups in the ecosystem.

For Wennovation, the focus has been more female entrepreneurs within the ecosystem, encouraging gender balance. The idea is to see how WeHub can support women by training them to be business owners thereby, having more females in the ecosystem and this is also the focus of the Afrilabs Capacity Building project.

Calls for application will soon be made public for female entrepreneurs to apply. We will begin implementation from January. It will be a 6 month training period for the female entrepreneurs who come into the program.

So as the project continues, we just want information out there that the Wennovation Hub is very gender sensitive, we want to encourage a lot of females to do business and not just encourage them, but to provide support. And we are also very open to funders who are equally interested in bridging the gender balance, because having more females in business gives a multiplier effect.

The project aims to translate female led innovative ideas into concrete business solutions through screening, mentoring & capacity support during pre-incubation and incubation phases in Nigeria.
